Why Choose Hamilton
Getting married at Hamilton is a great choice for a number of reasons. First of all, it’s handy to everything. Hamilton is only 10 minutes by car from the Brisbane CBD and 10 minutes from Brisbane Airport. Secondly, it’s beautiful. The Brisbane River winds through Hamilton on its way to Moreton Bay. There are great river views and lots of places for fabulous photos with the river as a backdrop. Thirdly, there’s plenty of public transport in the area so travel to and from your wedding is a breeze for guests.
The Northshore Riverside Park is a fabulous spot for getting married at Hamilton. It is right on the river, there’s plenty of parking in the area and it’s just a stone’s throw away from some wonderful reception venues.
Hamilton Wedding Venues
In my opinion, these four venues stand out if you’re getting married at Hamilton:
River Room Cafe
Situated on MacArthur Avenue close to the trendy Eat Street Markets, the River Room Cafe has a prime position on the banks of the Brisbane River. A bustling cafe during the day, after 3pm the River Room becomes a stylish wedding venue. The grassy outdoor areas are fabulous for ceremonies. The cafe looks amazing when set up for delicious sit-down dinners or cocktail style receptions and has wonderful views of the river. If the weather is bad on your wedding day, the indoor ceremony setup looks great too. A bonus is that there is plenty of free parking nearby.
Moda Events Portside
Overlooking the river at Portside Wharf is Moda, a classy option for getting married at Hamilton. Moda offers fantastic food, spacious ceremony areas and a variety of reception spaces with panoramic water views. It can accommodate weddings of all sizes from intimate celebrations to the most lavish extravaganzas.
The Hamilton Hotel
The Hamilton Hotel is situated right on Kingsford-Smith Drive, a stone’s throw from the marvellous photo opportunities of the river. Although the hotel does not have a ceremony area, it offers reception packages to suit all styles of weddings and budgets. The Hamilton Hotel caters for gatherings of up to 700 guests, so will be able to accommodate virtually any wedding. It’s definitely worth a look if you’re planning on getting married at Hamilton or in a suburb nearby.
Eat Street Markets
Having your wedding reception at a food market is an unusual but surprisingly popular option. The Eat Street Markets offer an amazing variety of food from around the world as well as quality free entertainment. There are several spaces that can be booked for weddings of different sizes. Prepay your guests’ entry fee to the markets to keep things simple and stress free on your wedding day.
If you love the Hamilton Hotel and Eat Street as reception venues, but don’t know where to hold your ceremony, have a look at Newstead Park, one of my very favourite outdoor locations for Brisbane weddings. It’s beautiful, with established trees and lovely gardens. It has a cute-as-a-button little rotunda perfect for weddings right on the river’s edge and Brisbane’s oldest residence, historic Newstead House, sits right in the middle of the park. It has loads of free parking and better still, it’s super close to Hamilton.
