Best Gold Coast Wedding Parks
There are lots of great Gold Coast wedding parks. Most of them can be booked for your ceremony. Beachside parks are particularly popular as they are usually beautiful, have plenty of parking and are close to great restaurants and reception venues. Best of all, many have fabulous sea views. Whether couples are celebrating with lots of guests or planning intimate elopement weddings, they are sure to find a perfect spot in a park or garden somewhere on the Gold Coast.
Booking Gold Coast Wedding Parks
You can book parks for weddings online or by phoning the Gold Coast City Council. There is a non-refundable booking fee of $108 for all Gold Coast wedding parks except for the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens at Benowa which are more expensive to book. Booking a park usually doesn’t guarantee you exclusive use of the area because parks are open to the public, but you can be sure no-one else is planning to get married in your chosen spot at the same time as you.
Here are five of my favourite Gold Coast Wedding Parks:
- Macintosh Island Park is on the border between Surfers Paradise and Main Beach. It has something for everyone – tranquil grassy areas shaded by tall trees, a lagoon teeming with bird life, photoworthy waterfalls, creeks and bridges and even a bunch of resident peacocks. Parking is free and plentiful, but this park cannot be booked during motor racing events as it lies right on the circuit
- John Laws Park at Burleigh Heads has million dollar views across Burleigh Beach and all the way to Surfers. Green lawns and pandanus palms make this a spectacular place to get married. The downside is that the park is super popular. If the weather is good, expect a crowd of onlookers. Parking can be difficult on weekends
- Pat Fagan Park sits atop Greenmount Hill at the southern end of the Gold Coast. It hasĀ amazing ocean views from Coolangatta to Surfers. It’s also popular with picnickers so parking can be an issue
- Cascade Gardens at Broadbeach has a super cute rotunda, great for shade in hot weather and shelter on wet days. The rotunda is the most popular place in the park for ceremonies but Cascade Gardens also has plenty of other spots suitable for weddings. It’s also a happy hunting ground for photographers as there are so many great locations. Cascade Gardens is also close to lots of reception venues
- Paradise Point Parklands are at the far northern end of the Gold Coast. The park has the same beautiful view as the popular Southport Broadwater, but is far less busy and crowded
Alternatives to Gold Coast Wedding Parks
If a Gold Coast wedding park isn’t your idea of a perfect spot for your big day, there are plenty of other options on or near the Gold Coast. How about a wedding on the sand at Broadbeach, Currumbin, Fingal or Coolangatta? Gold Coast surf clubs are great for wedding receptions. There are also lots of golf clubs that offer excellent value wedding packages. Mudgeeraba is a wonderful place to get married – think The Boomerang Farm, Ecostudio Fellini and Coolibah Downs Private Estate – and Mt Tamborine has wedding options from gorgeous national parks to quirky hotels, upmarket wedding venues and wonderful restaurants.
